CrossFit Games 2021: What are you looking forward to?

The CrossFit Games 2021 are on the horizon, and many of the participants are incredibly excited. Other than the traditional CrossFit Games, events for women will be held. We all know about the Reebok's equipment, Pegboard contest, cutting system, and women's event. However, we don't know much. Keep reading to find the answer! The competition for women

This morning, the women's competition began at the 2021 Crossfit Games with the swim event. Jonne Koski was the winner in the first race. Tia Clair Toomey Orr was also victorious. Koski was the overall winner after keeping her lead throughout the competition. Tall and Eramoo Connell were second and third, each. It was the first Games women's event and the women hoped to complete it.

The women’s competition is populated with high-level competitors. The field includes nine athletes, including a 19-year-old powerhouse who won the competition in Australia last year. Kara Saunders from Australia, who placed second in Australia and 11th globally in 2020 are other contenders. Andrea Nisler was also a rising star. In 2018, she competed in team division and came in third in the United States. She finished fifteenth in 2020. These athletes will be joined by Sara Sigmundsdottir from Iceland, who was awarded the first place medal at the World Crossfit Games earlier in the year.

Pegboard contest

Cutting system

CrossFit Games has a new cutting system for individual competition. The cuts are not as severe as those used in past Games but they are still very different. The competition has 15 individual events. Therefore, it's likely that the first cut of 30 athletes will occur after the seventh or eight event. CrossFit's decision on how to adjust the points distributed after cuts remains a question. The scoring table used to determine the winners in the 2019 games was very similar to the one used to determine the losers in 2021. This is why it's most likely that the current system will be used.

The CrossFit Games' largest ever field, consisting of 236 athletes this year, is the largest ever. Major cuts are made in the first six events. The field is reduced down to 75 athletes. The top 30 competitors then compete in the sprint couplet to determine which athlete is number ten. The top 20 athletes then compete in six more events. Veteran Games participants criticized Castro's system, claiming that the cuts were too drastic.

Equipment from Reebok

Reebok announced new CrossFit Games footwear, clothing and other equipment. The Nano X1 shoes are the new model. They can be used for multiple fitness goals. Reebok claims this shoe is "the shoe that will fit all your fitness needs," but it's more like a regular training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar fabric is used for the upper, which promotes breathability and durability. The shoes are responsive thanks to the firm midsole and RopePro technology.

Reebok's contract with CrossFit will end at the end of 2020, and the Games will be without a title sponsor. Reebok has been sponsoring the Games for over a decade and now it is clear that its involvement will be declining. Reebok will no longer sponsor the Games' prize money, but it will continue to manufacture all the athletic apparel and equipment used by athletes, including the Reebok gear. The company won't refer to itself as "Reebok crossfit games" anymore.
